I have been giving a lot of thought about what the demise of bookstores would actually mean? Traditionally bookstores were small independent operations until big business got the brilliant (not really) idea that they could do it better and reach the masses. So some degree they were right but in that process (that has been made by many) they miscalculated one big thing. That one big thing is the baby boomer generation in the end still prefer that personal feeling of a small independent bookstore. Like Wal-Mart they squeezed out the little guy. Sure now there is online shopping but that is not the same. The question becomes then how do we keep theses small independent bookstores alive?
